Today, many people are looking for new methods of personal transportation. Tired of high gas prices and conventionality, people are looking to others modes of moving. Some choose more conventional alternatives like bicycles or public transportation. For those who really think outside the box, the Segway is a revolutionary new type of personal transportation. It is designed to carry one person, though some models come with small containers for cargo or a rack to hold golf clubs. By and large, though, they are used by people who want to move nothing but themselves.

Segways are designed to be versatile and convenient, able to move through most environments easily. Some newer models are even designed to be driven off road, though most people stick to paved trails. In fact, in some cities there are clubs that organize group rides, where owners meet up and cruise around on their Segways. This can be a highly enjoyable experience for some, though others use their Segways purely for personal transportation. They need a way to get from their home to their office, carrying little more than a purse or briefcase. Some Segways are also utilized by organizations that have offices in a corporate campus design, a number of buildings scattered on a large piece of property. This creates a nice environment but also problems when people need to get from one side of the campus to the other in a hurry. They may need transportation, and some innovative companies have chosen Segways as the form for their offices.
