Topics
Axel talked about the Sunday glide. 3-4 hours in length. About 10-14 miles. There will be following transport to pick up people who stop along the way. He checked into a police escort for parts of the trip. There will be an 8am start in order to get to the Petersen Automotive Museum prior to it’s normal opening. Glide will go through Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive, past Greystone Mansion, Sunset Strip, Hollywood and maybe a Paramount Studios tour. Glide will end at Farmer’s Market. There will be a lunch break.
Fred is arranging for 2 buses and a 24 foot panel truck.
The Sunday marathon will interfere with car travel away from the hotel until after 9:30 am.
We should publish or circulate a list of cell phone numbers for people to call the Logistics Committee.
So far, there are 169 registrations including 23 socials.
Segways are welcome inside the hotel, but XTs are not to be ridden.
Discussion about the schedule for the SegwayFest so far:
Friday: Registration starting at 2pm. Cocktail reception at 7pm with hors devours. Night time glide after reception.
Jim Norrod’s talk will be combined with Doug Field’s talk on Saturday.
Woz will be doing autographs of his new book. Barnes & Noble to have books available for sale.
We should make nametags for the speakers.
Bixby/Bluff park is the place for lunch on Saturday. It is about 3 miles from the Coast Hotel.
There will be a sign-up sheet for upgrades and they will be done in another room away from the crowd.
Jack Kamen will be attending with a new poster he drew for the occasion. Jack and Dean will be available for autographs.
Segway will be providing a bunch of giveaways.
Dress code for the Queen Mary is Snappy Casual.
Carla is arranging media coverage and press releases.
There was a review of the budget for the Fest.
Fred will look into registering SEG America, Inc. to be able to do business in California.
Someone (?) made a motion to support Jonathan laying out the front money for the Woz books on consignment. It would be about $600. 2nd by Jonathan. Passed unanimously.
Discussion about ID badges for attendees and their Segways.
Discussion about a rain contingency.
Discussion about the Logistics Committee meeting on Wednesday and finding volunteers.
Thursday’s DRAFT dinner attire is jacket and tie.
Fred made a motion, 2nd by Karl to adjourn. Passed unanimously.
