SEG America SegwayFests for 2005
The Executive Board is pleased to announce plans for three SEG America SegwayFest regional enthusiast gatherings to take place around the United States in 2005. Segway LLC has pledged their full support to SEG America for all of these events and will be represented at each one.
History and Goals:
In October of 2004, the SEG America Executive Board convened a Regionals Committee to study, plan, and execute several SegwayFest events in the interest of the Segway owner and enthusiast community. The Regionals Committee has several goals including making the SegwayFests accessible to many people at a low cost. We will accomplish this by holding several smaller events during the year at various locations around the country to bring the events closer to the community. We will be offering a variety of hotel and food options for the attendees so that they might find a combination that best suits their budgets. We are offering a simplified schedule of activities so that attendees have options to arrive and leave at their convenience and still not miss the important activities.
Format of the events:
The basic format for the events has Saturday as the center point. There will be activities such as seminars, lectures, demonstrations, discussions, Q&A panels, Segway riding skill contests, games, group glides, etc. going on all day Saturday. The day concludes with a dinner followed by a keynote address/awards ceremony.
The one-day format combines the Saturday activities with additional casual activities on Friday evening and Sunday morning for those arriving early/leaving late. In order to offer the most flexibility, some of the Friday/Sunday activities may be duplicated on the other days.
The two-day format adds one additional full day of activities to the Saturday program, most likely on Friday. These activities will be of a different sort from what happens on Saturday. They could be things such as guided gliding tours of the area, etc. There would be a repeating schedule to accommodate attendees arriving throughout the day.
After the conclusion of the Sunday activities, there may be an open house for the local community to come and see the Segway HT in action, get demo rides, and talk to owners & vendors. Some attendees may wish to stay and participate on a voluntary basis.
Accommodations and meals:
Attendees will be able to choose from a variety of hotel accommodations at and near the venue with varied room rates that should be suitable for any budget. There will also be a variety of restaurants available for attendees to dine at their convenience. The Saturday dinner is not required, but would be an extra expense to attend.
